Defining Success: The Power of Goals, Values, and Personal Fulfillment in the New Year

It’s the beginning of a new year, and people often feel pulled to re-evaluate, and consider what they will do to ensure a successful year. Defining success from the perspective of a business or organization can be a complex task, as it can vary significantly depending on the personal ambitions and principles of the individuals involved. At the core, success is not solely measured by financial gain, but by leading a fulfilling life that is in harmony with both personal objectives and core beliefs. The importance of connecting personal values with professional objectives cannot be overemphasized, as it has the potential to result in a career that brings both personal fulfillment and professional satisfaction.

Setting and pursuing goals is a powerful tool for transforming our aspirations into reality; providing us with a roadmap to follow and a means of accountability even in the face of setbacks. When we set goals, we embrace the belief that our desired future is achievable. Setting a goal, creating an action plan, and completing that plan allows our goals to become our reality; they guide us and show us what is possible in our lives.

Goals provide us with direction. Values are the guiding principles that help us make decisions and live our lives with purpose. They are like a compass that directs us towards our true north.

Values describe the sort of person we want to be, the way we treat ourselves and others, and our interaction with the world around us. Throughout a decade of leading the LMI Total Leader® program and supporting individuals in aligning with their goals and values, the principles of strength, love, and intuition have been the cornerstone of my work as a performance excellence leader.

I have learned that the road to success is not a straight line, but rather a winding path that requires perseverance. Adapting has been instrumental in building my strength, particularly during times of transition. One of the greatest joys that I have in my work is supporting clients to lean into their inner strength, break through their own limiting beliefs and expand on their goals.

When I reflected on my second value of love, I considered how often it is thought of as an emotion, but for me it is also an action. In business, I’ve embraced a heart-centered approach, putting people first and treating them with compassionate action.  By operating from a place of love, a positive culture develops that attracts like-minded individuals, fosters loyalty, and brings joy.

Lastly, trusting my intuition as a guiding force has supported me through life's journey and has led me toward my true purpose. Intuition seems to consider all our experiences and knowledge and leads us exactly where we need to be.

For me, strength, love, and intuition are not just concepts, they are powerful tools that help me navigate both my work and my life. Just as a sailor navigates the seas with the help of the wind, we can all navigate our lives with the help of our goals and values. We must adjust our sails and steer our course to reach our desired destination, to learn from our setbacks and to make course corrections as necessary, to keep moving forward towards our goals.

As you pursue your goals, I encourage you to reflect on your own values and how they can guide you towards success. By staying true to your values and maintaining a strong sense of purpose, you can create a journey that is not only personally fulfilling, but also positively impacts society and leaves a legacy. So, I encourage you to embrace your gifts, set your goals high, and let your values guide you on your journey to success.

For those looking to enhance their personal awareness, fine-tune your efficiency, and effectively achieve your goals, I invite you to consider joining one of my upcoming programs.
